LATEST NEWS... RETURN TO NORMAL TRAINING
On Tuesday September 7th, the club returns to a normal training pattern. There will be some changes on the horizon, but we will announce these in due course.
The first change concerns adult members who joined the Wedneday Class at Tidbury Green... before the break we addressed the issue of you joining the Tuesday class (and even better, Tuesday and Thursday) at the Coppice - which met with a positive response. We would therefore like to implement this change with immediate effect and invite you to train at the Coppice Lesson Two, from Tuesday 7th, 7.30 to 8.30pm.
Tuesday 7th September Lesson One, The Coppice (6.30 to 7.30pm)
We will make a posting regarding this lesson after the GTUK Instructors Meeting on Sunday 5th September.
Tuesday 7th September Lesson Two, The Coppice (7.30 to 8.30pm)
As normal.
Wednesday 8th September Little Ninjas, Tidbury Green (6.00pm to 7.00pm)
As normal. We will endeavour to send out invoices for the new term prior to this lesson.
Wednesday 8th September Tidbury Green (7.00pm to 8.00pm)
As outlined above, all adults are invited to join the Coppice classes. We will then make an assessment regarding juniors as only one member has trained during the summer period.
Thursday 9th September Peewee Juniors, The Coppice (6.30 to 7.30pm)
As normal. We will endeavour to send out invoices for the new term prior to this lesson.
Thursday 9th September Lesson Two, The Coppice (7.30 to 8.30pm)
As normal EXCEPT we are shortening the class to one hour. An explanation will be given at training and later on the website.
If there are any questions or issues relating to the above, please email rather than texting or calling: geoffheath@btinternet.com
Thank you.

A TKD BBQ... courtesy of Mr Clarke
Thanks to Mr Roy Clarke for repeating what was a very enjoyable Summer TKD Barbeque afternoon and evening.
A thank you from the organisers of 'fun in the park' 2010...
We received the following thank you from Tina Lupoli, which we believe, says it all:
Dear Geoff & Julia,
On behalf of Wythall and Hollywood Fun Run Team I am writing to express our enormous thanks for Wythall Taekwon- Do supporting our Fun Run, which was enjoyed by many in the sunshine. We were delighted with the turnout on the day and received lots of positive feedback so we are confident that this could become an annual event for the local community to enjoy as well as enticing others to visit Wythall.
The display that your club did was fantastic and was instrumental in providing great entertainment for the day. Many families have commented on how much they enjoyed your display and it was very clear that the whole club had spent a lot of time and effort practising.
We really appreciate how supportive you have been towards our Panther Project and are thrilled with the money that was raised – a staggering £2,000! Whilst we still have a very long way to go, this is a very welcome boost to our fund raising target of £100,000.
We have a huge variety of fund raising activities planned over the coming year and would be delighted if the community partnership between 1st Tidbury Green Scouts(Wythall) and yourself could continue and develop.
With Kind Regards
Tina
Coloured Belt Grading - June 17th
RESULT and REPORT
We would like to thank everyone who entered the grading on Thursday 17th June, for contributing to an excellent performance and overall high standards now expected from the club.
As expressed in previous notices, this grading marked a significant benchmark for the club because it is the first time we have applied the principle of inviting members to grade each quarter for twice weekly attendees, and every six months for once weekly attendees. It also challenged the consequence of block invoicing for peewee and little ninja members, which has encouraged regular attendance.
Without doubt, the grading result is a clear vindication of these changes, reflected by a 97% pass rate overall (100% in both the adult and Little Ninja categories). Those who weren’t successful this time now have the summer period to focus on areas that need attention and hopefully bounce back in their retake in the September grading.
It was also the club’s biggest ever grading held under one roof , all at the same time. We decided not to split the grading into the usual peewee & little ninja / adult & teen sittings, so that the recent intake of white belt members had an opportunity to see the whole club in action. That meant creating and sticking to an ‘adapted’ sequence of tests that still demonstrated to Mr Archer the correct syllabus techniques.
That meant it was a big night for the Little Ninjas who, supported by the peewee juniors performed their move by move patterns infront of an audience. All of them then made life very difficult for the audience by answering a stream of Korean terminology questions with impressive accuracy. Well done gang.
With all these elements put to the test, we were very pleased with the result and congratulate you all. We were also extremely proud by the assistance we received from three of our blackbelt ladies; Emma Harvell, Amy Winkworth and Chloe Davies – who all stuck to their assigned duties without being told twice. We also thank blackbelt-to-be Miss Vicky Clubb for ‘being there’ as a familiar face and mentor for the white belt members, with whom she has been helping to instruct.
As a final footnote, Mrs Heath and I both noted that the pre-grading administration and stress, seemed to be a fraction of that created by the club’s smallest grading last September… so progress seems to be happening all round!
Thank you.
Edinburgh International Success Our thanks to all club members who travelled to Edinburgh to participate in and support our competitors in the Goodwill International. Nine members entered the competition and we were all delighted with three medals to show for our efforts. Our special thanks go to Roy Clarke for his efforts in organising accommodation and itinerary but foremost in driving us all the way there and back with little rest between outward and inward journeys. A great weekend in which TKD united so many, the highlight for us all was the incredible spectacle by the Korean WTF TKD Display team... the word 'spellbinding' does not even go close to describing what we witnessed! COURTESY ...when leaving us or taking a break
Under direction from the GTUK, we are poised to ‘cleanse’ our membership list. We fully appreciate that members take a break from training now and again, for a variety of reasons; injury, study, work commitments and so on. We also appreciate it when the tenet of ‘Courtesy’ is applied, and members keep us informed of likely long-term absence, and in the same way we also appreciate a courteous communication upon leaving the club.
Unfortunately, in a few cases it seems some people learn nothing about the application of respect and choose to simply ‘disappear’ without so much of a text message to say ‘goodbye’.
For example, just recently we have been asked by members to order them (and obviously pay for) items such as sparring equipment and new doboks, only for them to then disappear without even the hint of an apology, and without paying for the equipment they asked for. In another instance, a junior female member simply 'stopped' attending owing several months tuition fees.
For this reason, we will in future terminate licences, without explanation, of any member who has missed training for four consecutive weeks, without having the decency of letting us know.
Can we thank the vast majority of you who do send apologies when missing just one lesson. If you do this via text and don’t get a reply, be assured your message HAS been noted and is hugely appreciated.

British Championships April 24th
I would like to congratulate the following club members who turned out to represent the club at Stratford-upon-Avon, in the GTUK British Championships:
Alex Turrell
Rhys Jones
Megan Jones
Reagan Jones
Oake Pugh
Thomas Herriott
Charles Baker
We are very proud of your commitment and your skills. Two bronze medals were won in patterns by Mr Baker and Thomas Herriott.
It was impossible for me (assigned to medal presentation duties) to see all of our members performances but from where I was stood I was aware that Tom Herriott's medal came by performing his pattern several times in what was the biggest group of contestants on the day: Peewee Junior 7 to 11 year olds.
